Clarion Gaming’s Head of Industry Insight and Engagement, Ewa Bakun

The 2018 edition of GiGse (The Miami Biltmore: May 31 – June 1) could not have come at a better time as the industry on both sides of the Atlantic, digest the implications of the Supreme Court’s ruling on the Murphy vs. National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) case.  The Court’s ruling determined that the federal ban on sports betting as established by the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992 (PASPA) is unconstitutional.  The outcome of the ruling will feature heavily in this year’s GiGse, with the event featuring key legislators, operators and decision makers who will be mapping out scenarios from every perspective including those impacting sports associations, end-users, gambling operators and technology providers.

Clarion Gaming’s Head of Industry Insight and Engagement, Ewa Bakun said: “This decision has been welcomed by the industry’s key stakeholders who have been seeking transparency, integrity, consumer protection, education and sustainable regulation as set out in the Clarion Accord, stipulated after last year’s inaugural and Sports Betting USA Conference.  GiGse is the first opportunity that the industry has had to discuss the details arising from the Supreme Court’s ruling and to map out the future.  The North American gaming industry is at a very exciting juncture and GiGse could not be taking place at a more prescient time.  As the key decision makers demand additional insight and information GiGse is the single most important event to attend."

GiGse 2018 will feature more than 70 speakers who will deliver 13+ hours of insight and 7+ hours of networking covering the entire spectrum of North American gambling, gaming and betting.  Among those confirmed to speak at the event are; Joe Asher, CEO, William Hill US, Art Manteris, VP Sport and Race Operations, Station Casinos / Red Rock Resorts and Benjie Cherniak, President, Don Best Sports, who will be part of the Sport betting in the USA panel entitled - Will it be a new transformative force in the US gaming landscape and provide a push for a more successful iGaming adoption in a near future?; and Patrick Garofalo, State Representative, Minnesota House of Representatives who will discuss Regulating and taxing sports betting: Reviewing the options and how they will define the future of the market? alongside Scott Butera, Partner, White Winston and formerCommissioner, Arena Football League and Richard Schuetz, Gaming and Regulatory Consultant, Former Executive Director, Bermuda Casino Gaming Commission.

GiGse remains the 'must attend' event for senior gaming professionals with 77% of registered delegates classified as being Director or above.  The concentration of ‘C-Suiters’ is amongst the highest found in the Clarion Gaming portfolio and is of a similar seniority to the Latin American facing Juegos Miami, which for the first time is co-located alongside GiGse.

GiGse’s programme will feature C-Level debates including the monetization of sports betting, the role of technology in growing the gaming industry outside of regulatory boundaries, the utilization of behavioural data in tracking players from mobile to the casino floor, personalization and artificial intelligence as methods of engaging with digital users, as well as a panel looking at the pace of online gambling regulation and consumer attitudes towards it.  Key events taking place include the GiGse LaunchPad, where five start-ups will present in front of an investors panel with the eventual winners determined by the GiGse audience and the networking receptions shared with Juegos Miami attendees.
