Clarion Events, the organiser of next month’s EiG (Excellence in iGaming) 2014 event in Berlin, Germany, has announced that more than 30 entries have been submitted for the seventh edition of the event’s Start-Up LaunchPad competition.

The number of entries marks a 33% increase on last year when the competition, which has been likened to the ‘Dragons’ Den’ television programme, was won by Element Wave, Element Software’s push notification and analytics service for mobile devices.

The submissions are currently being whittled down to a longlist of 10 and then a shortlist of five, with the finalists being invited to pitch their propositions to the judges and face a Q&A session in a room full of iGaming executives.

The winner will be selected through an audience vote, with the finalists also having the opportunity to showcase their company at the Start-Up Village with a stand on the EiG show floor.

The judges – or ‘Dragons’ – who will grill the finalists are Mark Blandford, Partner, Burlywood Capital; Evan Hoff, Partner, Velo Partners; Ian Hogg, Chairman, GamCrowd; Anthony McAuslan, Director of Gaming, RoyalWins; and Hilary Stewart-Jones, Partner, DLA Piper.

Dorothy Creaven, the Co-Founder and Chief Executive of Element Software, will also be speaking at EiG 2014 about the experience of winning the 2013 LaunchPad competition and what it has meant for her company.

“Over the last seven years, the LaunchPad has become an important and respected cornerstone in the iGaming sector, especially for companies in their early stages looking to raise capital and gain industry exposure,” said Jo Mayer, Marketing Director, Gaming Portfolio at Clarion Events.

EiG 2014 will take place at Arena Berlin from October 21-23.
