Scarlett Roa joins to replace Zenita Strandänger, who left Svenska Spel this month

Swedish state-owned gaming operator Svenska Spel has appointed Scarlett Roa as sustainability manager, effective October 1st.

Roa joins from digital creative agency Authority, where she served as deputy chief executive. In her new role with Svenska Spel, she will be responsible for developing and implementing the company’s sustainability and responsible gaming strategies, reporting to communications and sustainability director Joakim Mörnefält.

She succeeds Zenita Strandänger, who left the company earlier this month.

Roa has studied innovative design and communications, and as a qualified lawyer has worked on diversity issues, as well as serving as a business adviser and sustainability manager for Almi Företagspartner, a financial intermediary part-owned by the Swedish government.

"I am extremely pleased that Scarlett is joining Svenska Spel,” Mörnefält said of Roa’s appointment. “She has a lot to contribute and joins with broad experience and a background that will strengthen our already-unrivalled position in the fields of responsible gaming and sustainability.”

Roa said she was taking on her new position with “great joy, pride and humility”.

“We have an exciting time ahead of us with new gaming legislation coming into force at the turn of the year, which will place higher demands on all companies in the market,” she said.

”I look forward to working with the employees at Svenska Spel to continue to develop the group's responsible gaming work and to lead the way in sustainability, including business ethics and anti-corruption issues, as well as gender equality and diversity."
