From April 27-29, SugarHouse Casino in Philadelphia is being transformed into a football ‘Draft House’, in celebration of the NFL Draft landing in the city.

The National Football League Draft is an annual event in which NFL teams select eligible college football players. It serves as the league’s most common source of player recruitment, and this year will be held at Eakins Oval, in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

In partnership with local sports radio station, 97.5 The Fanatic, SugarHouse will offer continuous draft coverage from its prime location on the banks of the Delaware River.

Featuring big-screen televisions, The Refinery restaurant, bar and patio is being turned into a one-of-a-kind sports bar. The Fanatic will broadcast live from SugarHouse each night of the draft, capturing instant reactions when Philadelphia’s hometown team makes its first pick.

From today, the Draft House will offer fans three days of celebrity meet-and-greets, including Pro Football Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor at the kick-off party. The weekend will also feature live DJs, football trivia and a showcase of professional and collegiate sports memorabilia.

In addition, the event at SugarHouse will include a range of games, contests, bar and drink specials, live entertainment and gaming promotions, including a sports memorabilia sweepstakes for blackjack and roulette players.

“SugarHouse had to be part of the biggest sports weekends in Philadelphia, so we created the Draft House,” Wendy Hamilton, general manager of SugarHouse Casino, told “This will be the biggest, non-stop draft party in town. Guests will enjoy three days of celebrity meet-and-greets, live entertainment and a showcase of sports memorabilia.”

Opened in September 2010, SugarHouse features 1,891 slots, 103 table games, a 28-table poker room, unique dining options and prime riverfront views.

TotallyGaming says: This year marks the first time the NFL Draft has returned to Philadelphia since 1961. There’s sure to be a buzz around the city over the coming days, and SugarHouse Casino has been quick to ensure it stays right at the centre of the action.
