Alberta casinos getting SG's SDS and iView management systems

Twenty-eight casinos in the Canadian province of Alberta are going live with Scientific Games’ casino management system.

Scientific Games (SG) had previously signed an agreement with the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission to install its casino management system in all 28 independently-operated casinos throughout the province.

The AGLC licenses and regulates the casino properties including owning and maintaining the more than 14,000 slot and 6,000 VLT machines in Alberta. The Grand Villa Casino Edmonton was the first property to go live, on 20 November.

In phases, the Scientific Games CMS will replace the existing system and take on the management of all the slot games in the province. The company will initially install the SDS slot accounting and player tracking system, along with the iView 4 and iView DM on-device messaging and player interface technology.

SDS is an integrated system that continually monitors slot machines, while the iView 4 interface displays dynamic marketing animations and video with instant response via a touchscreen. The iView DM system allows operators to display content such as player account information, bonusing offers and directed marketing messages on the main game screen or top screen.

Niaz Nejad, chief operating officer of the AGLC, said: “Given the unique requirements of the AGLC and its various casino properties, we needed a system that could support the commission’s multiple-service provider environment.

"We believe that Scientific Games' elite casino management system will provide us with the necessary support and we look forward to seeing results."

Cath Burns, senior vice president of gaming systems at Scientific Games, added: "We are proud that our systems solutions were able to accommodate the particular requirements the AGLC had in administering the gaming aspect of its 28 casinos, while allowing the casino operators to maintain a certain level of autonomy in managing their individual properties.”

Totally Gaming says: This deal is good news for players in Alberta. Announced less than a fortnight after Scientific’s acquisition of NYX was formalised, strengthening the group’s sportsbook hand, the Alberta deal is a reminder that SG is a deeply experienced gaming technology specialist that understands the player experience like few others. The Alberta installations will focus on just that, with features such as iView 4’s improved processors, boosted memory and Windows operating system enabling the player journey to run smoothly.
