Mpumalanga Gambling Board opens casino license application process

The Mpumalanga Gambling Board announced that it has issued an invite for proposals for a casino licence in the Mpumalanga Province, South Africa. To support the invite, the Board has released a Request for Proposal (RFP) document outlining the area, development, procedural and other requirements for a proposal, as well as evaluation criteria that will be applied to award the casino licence.
Commenting on the announcement, CEO, Bheki Mlambo, said; "The Mpumalanga Gambling Board is currently calling for applications for the fourth casino licence, which will complete the quota for the Province.
"The Board’s intention is to ensure that this licence brings about a world class integrated casino resort in the Province, which will serve as an important vehicle towards achieving sustainable economic growth and development within the tourism sector. Therefore, potential applicants will have to show a commitment towards the development of the Province’s tourism potential by proposing an integrated resort-style casino that will make a meaningful contribution towards attracting tourists into the Province," he added.
A statement from the Board said the deadline for submission of preliminary proposals is the end of February 2013, with Request for Proposals available for downloaded from the organisation's website.
