Dermot Smurfit: GAN has dared to be a market-leading, independent B2B supplier

GAN, formerly known as GameAccount Network, has completed its daring rebrand, with CEO Dermot Smurfit confident that the simulated gaming specialist has cemented its identity in the primary US market.

Smurfit explained: “GAN or 敢 means ‘to dare to’ in traditional Mandarin Chinese and since 2011 GAN has dared to be a market-leading, independent B2B supplier of enterprise-grade Internet gaming software and services to major land-based casinos in the United States for both Simulated Gaming and real money intra-State Regulated Gaming.

“We continue to build our reputation and rapidly-growing client base in the US in order to enable US casinos to extend their patron relationships online with a compelling internet gaming experience deeply integrated with their on-property rewards program.”

GAN’s success in the US has been despite the country’s extensive online gaming ban, as it has been able to offer casinos its Simulated Gaming portfolio – a product that allows land-based casinos to keep engaging with customers by offering a gaming environment that doesn’t involve real money.

The strategy has also positioned GAN at the forefront of the industry if and when legalisation rolls out to further states. Recently the House of Representatives in Pennsylvania included provisions for the legalisation of full real money Internet casino gaming in the state.

The bill titled HB 2150 was approved by the House of Representatives on its third consideration and has now gone to the Senate for their approval and, if approved by the Senate, will be presented to the Governor of Pennsylvania for signing into law.

Smurfit commented on the development: “This approval is a significant step in support of continued regulation of Internet gaming in America.

“Passage of this bill into law will allow us to commence real money Internet casino gaming from our enterprise-level Internet gaming platform already deployed on-property for Pennsylvania’s largest land-based casino and currently delivering Simulated Gaming integrated with the property’s reward program in preparation for regulated real money Internet gaming.”

Totally Gaming Says: “GAN has completed its rebrand just as things are progressing in the US, with Pennsylvania looking likely to become the fourth state to offer real money online gaming. With GAN able to offer both simulated and real money gaming, the company is able to partner casino operators all over the country regardless of the state gaming laws.”
