SBM owns four casino properties in Monaco, including the iconic Casino de Monte Carlo

The owner of four casinos in one of the world’s most exclusive gaming destinations, Monaco, has become a member of the European Casino Association (ECA).

Throughout its decorated 150-year history, Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer (SBM) has built an image of excellence and global reputation in the gambling and entertainment industry.

The group owns the iconic Casino de Monte-Carlo and is a cornerstone in the state’s long-standing successful economic, social and cultural development.

ECA chairman Per Jaldung commented: “We are proud to welcome the casinos of SBM as our newest member. Our aim is to demonstrate the positive impact that only the regulated casino industry offers to societies and economies.”

A major player in luxury tourism in Europe, SBM owns some of the most prestigious venues in Monaco. In addition to the iconic Casino de Monte Carlo, the group operates Sun Casino, Monte Carlo Bay Casino and the Casino Café de Paris slot hall, along with numerous hotels and more than 30 restaurants.

The group currently has over 4,100 employees and recorded a turnover of €458.8 million in 2016-2017.

“The membership of SBM represents another very important step to make our voice even more clearly heard and be strong advocates for the interests of our industry.” Jaldung said.

Pascal Camia, executive vice president of the gaming activity at SBM added: “The work of the ECA has been exemplary and important for the entire regulated gaming industry, which is why we have now decided to join.

“We look forward to working on the key topics for the future of the industry together with our colleagues from across Europe.”

SBM was accepted as newest member of the ECA at the association’s recent General Assembly, which took place at the newly-opened Maestral Resort & Casino in Montenegro.

The ECA now includes 27 members from across Europe that together operate over 900 casinos.

Totally Gaming says: SBM represents the pinnacle of luxury gaming, and the operator’s ECA membership represents a powerful endorsement of the work the association continues to carry out on behalf of Europe’s regulated gambling industry.
