Group will operate 29 casinos in 10 states at the end of the year

The repeal of the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) has seen a plethora of organisations embark upon growth strategies, as each vies for a slice of the US sports betting pie.

One such example is Nevada headquartered Boyd Gaming Corporation, who has begun to put a steady stream of deals in place as it seeks to become a market leader within the sports betting market.

Following a 2.1 per cent revenue climb to $617m for the three months ending June 30, a series of sports betting and igaming partnerships were struck alongside Aristocrat, FanDuel Group, IGT and MGM Resorts.

Boyd now holds the possibility of offering igaming, in the form of sports betting, casino gaming and poker, in fifteen stated across the country, subject to the necessary legislation and regulation.

Following it’s strong set of financials, and with the roll-out of sports betting, David Strow, vice president of corporate communications at Boyd, told TotallyGaming.com what the immediate future holds for the firm, and whether Boyd could be set for sustained period of strong revenue growth: “We are quite optimistic about Boyd Gaming’s future growth prospects.  Our core operations are performing strongly across the United States, with broad-based revenue and EBITDA growth across our operations.

“We are also in the midst of a significant diversification of our business – we recently completed the acquisition of a distributed gaming operator in Illinois, and will close on the acquisitions of five additional properties within the next two months.

“By the end of the year, Boyd Gaming will operate 29 casinos in 10 US states – giving us one of the largest and most diversified casino portfolios in the country.

“Our traditional casino operations are performing strongly, and we continue to look for ways to further diversify our business and expand our appeal to new customers.

“We view igaming and sports betting as intriguing opportunities to achieve that objective, by offering us new ways to connect with our customers, both existing and new.”

Totally Gaming says: Boyd Gaming has put itself in a strong position across a variety of states, should lawmakers pass the appropraite approvals to begin such operations. The immediate target for the group is sure to be Pennsylvania, with sports betting and igaming recently legalised and Boyd set to complete its Valley Forge Casino acquisition, located in close proximity to Philadelphia, in the near future.
