Gambling Compliance’s ‘Brazil Legislative Update – March 2016’ report includes the latest insight into Brazil’s political situation and potential market. It also includes a summary of Senate Bill 186/2014, which would authorize up to 35 casino resorts, land-based bingo halls, and various forms of internet gaming.

“Long considered one of the global gambling industry’s sleeping giants, Brazil is now once again attracting attention as a major opportunity for casino and online operators, as well as gambling suppliers,” said James Kilsby, Managing Director – Americas for Gambling Compliance.

“Experienced market watchers believe the issue is likely to remain high on the political agenda for 2016, with both houses of Brazil’s Congress and several government ministries turning their attention to possible regulatory approaches.

“This report offers an introduction to Brazil’s restrictive gambling industry, and highlights factors to watch as a possible major market opening comes under sharp focus in Brazil.”

The Gambling Compliance report has been released as the Senate bill was passed for a second time on Wednesday by a key Senate committee. The bill is soon expected to be considered on the Senate floor, before passing to Brazil’s Chamber of Deputies.

Meanwhile, the Chamber of Deputies is already preparing a gambling bill of its own having formed a special committee last year to weigh potential regulatory models.
