Betting exchange makes the Deloitte Fast 50 list

Approaching the final month 2016 Jason Trost, founder & CEO of betting exchange Smarkets has praised the work and progress of his firm’s development and technology teams in what he has described as a year of ‘exceptional growth’.

Having posted a 429% operating profit raise in its 2015 full-year disclosure, Smarkets is the only industry incumbent to have featured in the 2016 ‘Deloitte Fast 50’ UK tech & innovation index

International auditor and management consultancy firm Deloitte recognised Smarkets fast growth and corporate focus on in-house development rewarding the young company with fourth place in its technology index.

Speaking to TotallyGaming.com, Trost stated on Smarkets 2016 achievements: “It’s fantastic to be recognised by Deloitte and place so high on the Fast 50 list. Smarkets really took off in 2015 and growth has been exceptional again this year.”

Founded in 2008, the young firm’s Fast 50 inclusion follows the company’s fifth-placed ranking in The Sunday Times’ annual Tech Track 100 list in September and being shortlisted for the ‘Amazon 2016 Growing Business Awards’.

A pleased Trost now looks forward to 2017, where his firm will seek to further compete within the saturated UK betting market. Smarkets management confirmed to Totally Gaming that the firm would look to undertake a significant increase in headcount, bolstering its development and operations teams, and support its product growth with amplified marketing.

Totally Gaming says: Smarkets has certainly carved its own niche and the growth has now been recognised by a series of different enterprise awards and no wonder with revenues rising 1568% in 2015. The challenge for Trost and his team now is to continue that rate of growth, or improve on it.
