Playtech has launched its new virtual tennis product during Wimbledon

Virtual sport is again proving its potential with new developments from SIS, Ladbrokes and Playtech coinciding with major real-world events.

While the Wimbledon tennis championships are currently taking place, Playtech has announced the launch of Playtech Virtual Tennis, which it describes as “the world’s most realistic virtual sports product”.

Meanwhile, Ladbrokes has agreed to take SIS’s portfolio of on-demand racing games, which the developer said “will significantly increase the reach of the innovative SIS Infinite Games product”.

SIS said Ladbrokes customers – who will, of course, be betting on Uefa Euro 2016 and Wimbledon in their droves at present - will now have access to six times more betting opportunities compared to traditional scheduled virtuals, thanks to the SIS Infinite Games on-demand capability.

Marc Thomas, head of product for SIS, said: “SIS Infinite Gaming is forging a new role for virtuals in the online market, providing a perfect cross-sell product between casino and sportsbook. We’re excited to be working closely with Ladbrokes, delivering to their customers another reason to stay on their site throughout a busy summer of sport.

“The engaging user experience that SIS Infinite Games provides is proving a real hit with players and we’re pleased to now reach an even wider audience, together with Ladbrokes.”

Playtech said its licensees are now able to choose from a host of virtual sports including tennis, football, horse-racing, greyhounds, velodrome, and speedway with basketball available later this year.

Elliott Norris, Playtech’s head of virtual sports, said: “Our Virtual Tennis product is unlike anything the industry has ever seen and feels as if you are courtside watching a Grand Slam.

“The team has done a phenomenal job and we’re delighted and incredibly proud of the results. The graphics are mind-blowing and we are the only company able to offer full sports simulations meaning that betting and gameplay are as realistic as possible.” says: “Virtual sports is a hot topic for the gambling industry, with on-demand games offering a new world of revenue for operators. It is interesting that new products should coincide with popular real-world events, with virtual games benefiting from their success rather than being considered as futile during such periods.”
