Team GB surprised the world when they made it to second in the Olympic medal table. Bettingexpert.com - based in Copenhagen - decided to break down to medal haul into counties.

It tweeted: Which UK county won the most #Gold #Silver and #Bronze medals for @TeamGB? http://bit.ly/2bJAj1M  #greattobeBAck

Turns out Yorkshire stands out as a major contributor to GB’s success, bringing home 5x Gold, 4x Silver, and 2x Bronze—a total of 11 medals. With their golden performance, Yorkshire alone could’ve taken on many of the other nations in this year’s games.

Another success story this week has been the initial figures focusing on the merger between Paddy Power & Betfair, which indicate the integration between the two companies has gone incredibly well.

Alun Bowden, Senior Consultant at Eilers & Krejcik Gaming, spoke for the industry in his tweet, referencing a slightly less successful integration.

He tweeted: Really impressive results from PaddyPowerBetfair today. Imagine if this management team had run bwin.party ?

From competence to incompetence - Betway's Alan Alger, a big fan of non-league football - isn't impressed at the footballing authorities taking four years to take action over homophobic tweets by Burnley striker Andre Gray when he was playing in the Conference.

He tweeted: Re: Gray. Rather incompetent of the Conference not to pick up on the tweets at the time? Definitely other offenders out there too.

William Hill's media supremo Graham Sharpe had a nice tidbit for people who look for omens while choosing their horses.

He tweeted: As a Russian coup took place and Gorbachev was overthrown, today in 1991, Bold Russian won at 100/30 at Goodwood.

32Red has its own good news for racing fans. The online gambling brand is flexing its Authorised Betting Partner status by signing a new long term sponsorship deal.

Matthew Booth tweeted: Fantastic for @32Red_Casino to be sponsoring the 32Red Sprint Cup for the next 3 years. Fantastic for @32Red_Casino to be sponsoring the 32Red Sprint Cup for the next 3 years.

Meanwhile the team at Microgaming was making the most of the summer heatwave in the Isle of Man.

The slots developer tweeted: 19° and sunny on the #IOM. Time for a @DavisonsIce whippy and flake (or two in Dave’s case) to cool us down
