Sportradar is to build upon its prior experience, after agreeing to deliver a combination of monitoring and detection services, intelligence and investigation insights and a series of education and prevention workshops to the Champions Hockey League (CHL).

Building upon previous partnerships with the International Ice Hockey Federation, German Deutsche Eishockey Liga and North American NHL, a plethora of expert integrity sights are to be provided via the long-term partnership.

Andreas Krannich, managing director of integrity services at Sportradar, has been speaking to about how its prior experience within the sport of ice hockey helps when dealing with other parties, such as the CHL, globally: “Creating a fraud detection model that factors in all the nuances of an ice-hockey contest and the potential betting markets on those contests is not an easy task and takes investment, expertise and time.

“While no competition in one sport is the same as another, the experience we have in ice hockey will be invaluable for the CHL, and our other ice hockey partners, as we ensure our tools and services are fine-tuned and continue to evolve as fixers change their own tactics and approaches”

Sportradar are to work alongside the CHL, Europe’s premier ice hockey competition, in order to best safeguard the competition from manipulation and betting fraud.

Discussing how a deal such as this can assure fans that what they are seeing is highly competitive but, crucially, fair, Krannich added: “No sport or league can consider itself immune to interest from fixers and corrupters so it is the most proactive, most committed organisations that understand the risk, do their own due diligence to find the credible and respected potential partners and put pen to paper.

“The emotion and intensity of any competition can only work if it is driven by passion and an understanding that everyone is trying their best. The CHL want that to never be in doubt so that fans can follow, support and invest in full faith about what they are watching.

Totally Gaming says: Fans across each and every sport are quite right in their demands for hard but fair competition, and that can’t happen without a set of integrity services. Pitching the cream of European ice hockey against each other, Sportradar can draw upon its numerous previous experiences to ensure the CHL maintains and enhances its credibility levels.
