Three year deal to provide long term funding

Sports Information Services (SIS) has announced a greyhound racing initiative, designed to support and encourage British breeders.

The three year deal with the British Greyhound Breeders Forum (BGBF) is to provide long term funding, which is to encourage an expansion of competitions.

Gordon Bissett, Greyhound Operations Manager at SIS, has been speaking to about SIS’ decision to get involved and benefits of the deal: “We are passionate about greyhound racing and were keen to support the BGBF to provide opportunities for British bred greyhounds to become a more regular feature in the bigger competitions.

“By providing an opportunity for the British bred greyhounds to compete on a regular basis over a variety of tracks and distances, we are helping to provide the focus for these greyhounds in a competitive manner.

“The funding will allow BGBF to invest and expand its series of high-level competitions that will provide opportunities for British bred greyhounds. This will encourage better British bred dogs to come through the ranks which will provide more competitive racing for years to come.”

As a result of this new funding the BGBF has stated that it is to achieve its ambition of staging a series of Category 1 and Category 2 competitions across a variety of distances for British Bred greyhounds, supported by the tracks, the BGRF (British Greyhound Racing Fund) and now by SIS.

Emphasising the importance of such partnerships in ensuring the long-term future of greyhound racing, Bissett added: “It’s incredibly important. SIS has been involved in many greyhound initiatives for more than 20 years, through the Track Championships, the Easter Bunny and the ‘500’ competitions which helped support and promote greyhound racing.

"Through supporting this initiative with the BGBF we will not only be promoting greyhound racing but also providing opportunities for British breeders to produce winners.”

Totally Gaming says: British racing has a long and rich history, and through this new financial aid the sport can now undertake a certain level of growth, which is often much needed in many sectors to ensure continued success. Through the duration of this deal, breeders of UK pups now have a clear and distinct focus and target.
