Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI) will utilise SBTech’s integrated technology platform, after announcing a fresh partnership with the firm, as it makes its entry into real money online gaming and sports betting markets.

The move will see SBTech supply a US facing iGaming platform meaning CDI can manage both its sports wagering and iGaming operations, in the aftermath of the US Supreme Court’s decision to fully repeal PASPA.

Commenting on the new partnership, Churchill Downs Vice President Nick Zangari told TotallyGaming.com: “The SBTech agreement provides us with an industry leading technology platform to offer exciting, integrated iGaming and sports betting products while leveraging our expertise as the largest legal online horse racing wagering business in the U.S.”

SBTech also expressed excitement over the new deal, as the group’s CEO Richard Carter stated: "We are thrilled to have Churchill Downs as our first US partner, Churchill is not only an iconic brand with the largest online horse race wagering business in the US, but it is also one of the fastest growing gaming operators in the nation.

“The combination of Churchill's leading presence in the US market, coupled with SBTech's deep expertise in regulated sports betting markets globally, makes for an ideal partnership as we enter this monumental chapter in the US gaming industry."

When asked about the opportunities that will be afforded by entering New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Mississippi, Zangari added: “These states provide the opportunity to offer exciting, integrated iGaming and sports betting products while leveraging our expertise as the largest legal online horse racing wagering business in the U.S.

Looking ahead, he continued: “We are closely following the other states that are discussing iGaming and sports betting and will evaluate these opportunities as the regulations are finalised in each state.”

Totally Gaming says: When it comes to maximising the potential of the US horse racing market, innovation will be crucial, these fresh partnerships will put Churchill Downs in pole position to innovate and create new markets that are engaging for US horse racing punters.
