The market has proved to be a popular ante post alternative for punters

BetVictor has unveiled its popular ante post Premier League handicap market for the coming season, with the firm offering 15/1 on the field.

The operator has revealed the market has opened up with champions Manchester City on scratch, this means Guardiola’s side must give their 19 rivals a point start in the market ranging from a six point handicap to Liverpool, to a 46 point handicap to newly promoted relegation favourites Cardiff City.

BetVictor Spokesperson Charlie McCann emphasised to TotallyGaming.com: “The thinking behind the Premier League handicap betting is to ensure that fans of all teams (top, middle and bottom) can get behind their team if they believe they are going to overachieve this winter. Yes we did have Leicester City winning the title three years ago but the handicap is an alternative market for all fans to forecast which side will be the surprise package of 2018/19.

“Remember champions Manchester City and Europa League qualifiers Burnley topped the handicap table last season. Liverpool have been the best backed side in the title market and there will be many who believe they can beat City in receipt of a 6 point start, but can they give 24 points to neighbours Everton or 40 to Cardiff City?

“That is the conundrum for punters – but I would disagree that the market is aimed at fans of mid-table clubs. It is a season long market which asks punters who is the best handicapped side in the division in their opinion? And it should be noted that the prices (but not the handicap) will change before a ball is kicked.”

Outlining where he thinks there is value in the market, he added: “I feel Wolves (+33) and West Ham (+35) will be the best backed although I hope the winners will be Marco Silva’s Everton (+30).”

Totally Gaming says: With Manchester City seemingly having a strong grip on the Premier League title, it’s unsurprising that ante post handicap markets are immensely popular with punters. The market provides bettors with an opportunity to get rewarded for picking which side they feel will overachieve and punch above their weight in the coming season.
