Mirio Mella on the launch of Pinnacle's Betting Resources section

Be honest. How good are you at gambling? For most people there’s ample room for improvement and this is, at least in part, due to a lack of knowledge. Pinnacle is aiming to better equip customers via its newly launched Betting Resources feature.

The aim is to create the ‘the most comprehensive collection of expert betting advice available anywhere online’ and make it easily available to betting consumers. Some of the more engagingly educational content to emerge from it so far includes a story about famous sports bettor Lewis Deyong and how gambling has changed over the past few decades.

We asked Pinnacle’s Head of Customer Engagement Mirio Mella about how the company plans to expand the section. He said: “The future plans include a much more complex Search gallery using tagging so users can find content that suits their intent from our large and growing archive.

“We will also be adding a Betting Calculator so users can understand bet payouts, odds conversions, hedge opportunities and margins. Content coverage will be expanded but only where we can do subjects justice; we don't want to churn out thin previews.”

We also spoke to Mirio about who specifically they’re targeting with the Betting Resources. Mella replied: “Content is now categorised across three learning levels - Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced so we are looking to cast a wide net but ensure content matches expectation. The idea behind Guest Contribution is to enable us to produce high quality one-off pieces as well allow our Twitter followers a chance to present their perspective on betting and finding value.”

He concluded by saying the ultimate aim is to bring in engagement tools which will “create a community feel”.

Totally Gaming says: There’s no doubt that with the breadth and depth of markets available on a typical sportsbook these days, not to mention the influx of live betting, that customers can easily feel overwhelmed. This is especially true for those that are new to betting and it could lead to lost volume for bookies. This Betting Resources section is a smart move by Pinnacle, and the hope is that they keep it topped up with strong content.
