New brand falls in line with TVG

US horseracing broadcaster TVG has confirmed that it will rebrand pay-TV broadcaster HRTV’s different platforms.

HRTV will be renamed as TVG2, while the digital platform will become to fall in line with the company’s branding.

TVG, which is a subsidiary of online betting exchange Betfair, snapped up TVG from gambling company the Stronach Group in February of this year. The deal included television rights over seven years to racecourses that are owned and operated by the Stronach Group.

The TV operations of TVG and HRTV have already been amalgamated, with Betfair owning 100% of the combined platform.

“We’ve made good progress in integrating the two television productions, and integrating the brands was the logical next step in the process to optimise television coverage for horseracing,” TVG chief executive Kip Levin said.

“Our goals have always been to provide a better fan experience, increase our appeal to distributors, and drive revenue to the industry.”

Levin added that the new move will help TVG to “better utilise TVG's state-of-the-art television facilities to deliver a premium product for both networks.”

In the past, both broadcasters often aired coverage from the same tracks.

“We look forward to continuing to work with our important track and distribution partners to deliver more races and higher quality broadcasts to racing fans like never before,” Levin added.
