NBA strikes first European gaming partnership with FDJ

Deal is sees French lottery operator become league's first non-US betting partner

The US National Basketball Association (NBA) has named French gaming giant La Française des Jeux (FDJ) as its first Eurpoean gaming partner.

The partnership sees FDJ become the NBA’s official partner in France, with the deal to be promoted across the operator’s network of 27,000 retailers and via its online betting portal ParionsSport. It will also gain rights to use official NBA data for its basketball betting markets.

The NBA will also feature FDJ’s branding on its platform, its official app and dedicated French destination site.

“We are excited to partner with Française des Jeux, the market leader in sports betting in France,” NBA vice president of global partnerships for Europe and the Middle East Vandana Balachandar said. 

“This collaboration will result in the best possible gaming and entertainment experience for consumers through the use of accurate, official, real-time NBA data, and demonstrates our collective efforts to maintain the integrity of our games.”

FDJ head of gaming operations Richard Courtois added: “Partnering with the NBA, the most prestigious basketball league in the world, will allow ParionsSport to get even closer to the action and offer a more refined gaming experience for gamers, enabling us to reach yet more fans.  

“Basketball is one of the most popular sports globally, and as a result of this partnership with the NBA, it will become even more popular and inspirational for our customers.”​
