GLHF.GG will feature GIG-powered betting and gaming elements

Stockholm-listed MRG and esports entertainment specialist Gamingzone Entertainment have revealed that their esports betting joint venture will operate under the GLHF.GG brand.

The site, whose name is an abbreviation of the phrase “Good Luck, Have Fun, Good Game”, is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2019.

The pair, who established their partnership in May this year, will offer a range of entertainment, streaming, gamification features and wagering on the new site.

"We aim to create a community where esports followers across the world want to spend time", GLHF.GG chief executive Niklas Grawé explained. "With this great and very relevant name together with our idea on how to mix streaming, betting and gamification, we have the prerequisites to attract attention from this rapidly growing audience."

MRG chief executive Per Norman said the launch comes as the operator looks to tap into the rapidly-growing esports market, which has already surpassed traditional sports in popularity in some territories.

"GLHF.GG is an essential part in our strategy to expand in the value chain", Norman said. "This esports venture provides us with both significant knowledge and further growth opportunities."

The gambling component of the new site will be powered by Gaming Innovation Group (GIG), which is to deploy its GIG Core platform to power esports betting and iGaming.

“We highly value MRG’s and Gamingzone´s knowledge and experience in both iGaming and esports and are delighted to enter the fast-growing esports vertical together with them, adding further scale to our ecosystem,” GIG chief executive Robin Reed said.

“We are looking forward to supporting GLHF.GG in our mutual strategy of offering innovative, entertaining and engaging products supporting their growth in this increasingly prominent market.”
