Betway hails ‘rapidly’ expanding market

Betway has claimed to have become the first major bookmaker to launch a new e-sports portal as part of an effort to capitalise on growth within the market.

Available to access now, the new portal allows players to place bets on various pre-game, in-play and long-term markets across a host of games in the e-sports sector. ‘First Blood’ and ‘Map Winner’ are among the e-sports that will feature on the portal.

Opening up to about the launch, a Betway spokesperson said that the company has identified e-sports as an “important” market not only for the company, but also the wider industry.

“E-sports continues to grow rapidly because anyone with an internet connection can watch anytime, anywhere,” the spokesperson said. “E-sports is already really competitive, so the potential for industry growth is practically limitless.

“Although we are just at the beginning of our journey into the world of e-sports, the early signs are that it’s going to become an important part of our identity.

“Our dedicated e-sports team has been in place for some time now but the launch of the portal has been designed to give the growing numbers of e-sports bettors the same Betway experience that our traditional sports betting customers receive.

“We treat e-sports exactly the same as any other sport, and e-sports already regularly features in our top 10 daily sports in turns of turnover.”

The spokesperson also suggested that the launch of the portal is just part of Betway’s wider plans, with further development set to follow in the near future.

“E-sports is a very important vertical for Betway and the dedicated portal is the only the beginning,” the spokesperson said. “We’ll be announcing further developments within e-sports in due course.”
