Fernando Ors Villarejo tasked with carving out market share for lottery and gaming solutions provider

Lottery and gaming solutions provider Intralot has hired Fernando Ors Villarejo as president of sports betting for its US subsidiary.

Villarejo will lead Intralot Inc’s efforts to expand its sports betting customer base throughout the US. An industry veteran, he has previously served as chief development officer of Spain’s Grupo Codere, as well as overseeing its interactive division.

He has also served as a consultant via Savia Consulting, a business he founded, working with the likes of DoubleDown Interactive and advising Spanish telecommunications giant Telefonica on a sports betting strategy.

“It is my great pleasure to extend a warm welcome to Fernando,” Intralot chief executive Antonios Kerastaris commented. “In the new era of sports betting in the USA, Fernando will be our key person for opening up this immense new opportunity for Intralot, with end to end responsibility on the sports betting product and operations in the USA.

“Sports betting in the US in the post PASPA era is a major source of potential future revenue and profits for INTRALOT and we intend to dedicate considerable amount of effort and resources to turn this opportunity into a great success for our company."
