Russell Yershon has no doubts about horseracing's reach

The link between the betting industry and racing has often seemed diminished in recent years.

While once the two were almost inseparable, their symbiotic relationship has declined through the growth of interest in betting on other sports, alternative forms of gambling and very public arguments about the funding of racing in the UK.

However, despite being a new kid on the block in the betting industry, Titanbet seems keen to establish strong links with the sector’s traditional sporting partner.

The company, which launched last year, was today (Thursday) announced as the headline sponsor of Lingfield Park’s Super Saturday Meetings over the summer, and head of sportsbook Russell Yershon is convinced that a good relationship with racing is still essential for the betting industry.

“Racing remains an extremely important factor in the gambling industry,” Yershon told “It’s a key component in our daily turnover and fundamental to the growth of our business.

“Our initial venture in the racing industry has proved a major success and we will continue to invest in horse racing as we look to maintain growth in the UK.”

After recently agreeing sponsorships at York and Warwick, the Lingfield agreement will see the online sportsbook lend its name to 17 races across the five meetings, running from Saturday, June 20 to Saturday, August 8.

Titanbet, which is run by Playtech subsidiary PT Entertainment Services, is convinced that the exposure generated by sponsorship of Racing meetings is important for any company that wants to grow in the UK market.

“It raises awareness and credibility for a sportsbook like ours in the UK and helps us increase our customer base," Yershon said.

“The UK is such a competitive market that it’s pivotal that we are seen as one of the key considerations before placing a horseracing bet.

“Our racing sponsorships also support Titanbet’s investment in the Bet & Watch service that our customers enjoy on all UK & Irish racing.”

Racing is also pleased to extend its links with Titanbet, with Andrew Perkins, executive director of Lingfield Park Resort, saying: “We are delighted to welcome Titanbet as one of our key sponsors over this busy summer period. Lingfield Park offers a huge variety of racing throughout the year, with our summer Hooves & Grooves Series drawing some of our biggest crowds.”
