Sports Information Services (SIS) has continued its international greyhounds expansion strategy, by signing a deal with Spanish bookmaker Orenes.

The multi-year agreement will be offered through VivelaSuerta.es, with SIS to supply the operator’s entire retail estate with live pictures, commentary and data for both greyhounds and horses.

Paul Witten, product director at SIS, has spoken to TotallyGaming.com about this deal with Orenes, who serve nine regions within Spain and hold national ambitions, greyhounds popularity and the aspiration for new market expansion.

He said: “The Spanish market, as well as others across Europe and further afield, have shown a strong appetite for greyhound racing of late.

“This deal, which follows recent agreements with other European operators, sees our quality British and Irish product given further exposure to bettors across the world.

“Greyhound racing has been a popular betting product in its heartlands of the UK, Ireland and Australia for decades, and it is now expanding into new territories as regulated betting opens up new markets.

“We believe international expansion is key to not only secure a successful future for the sport domestically through increased funding, but because we believe there is a great opportunity for operators to drive revenues from a proven, highly engaging product which provides their customers with quick and regular betting opportunities.”

Operators around the globe will now be able to take advantage of a more tailored service, which has been developed alongside race tracks and bookmakers in an attempt to meet growing market expectations.

As a result SIS state it will create ‘better quality racing and scheduling, creating more betting opportunities at times which suit operator's’ needs'.

As well as Orenes, all major UK bookmakers will also be able to take advantage of the new greyhound service from the start of 2018, with it forming part of the SIS retail service.

Totally Gaming says: Expansion such as this is integral for greyhound racing to develop and thrive in a saturated market. With the new service due to be rolled out on January 1, further expansion, which Witten states could be “key” for a successful future, could well be set to follow.
