Pair will offer IGT's PlayShot platform plus William Hill's operational expertise to US lotteries

International Game Technology (IGT) and William Hill have agreed a multi-year partnership targeting sports betting partnership with US state lottery operators.

The pair will look to build on the partnership that first saw the companies work together to secure the Rhode Island Lottery sports betting contact. They aim to offer US lotteries a fully-managed solution to meet all current and future needs, maximising revenue for the state authorities and providing an attractive offering for players.

The terms of the deal state that IGT and William Hill must jointly consider all future sports betting opportunities and bid requests from US lotteries.

They will offer a sports betting package comprising IGT’s PlayShot sportsbook platform for land-based, retail, online and mobile wagering, with William Hill’s operational, trading, player management and strategic expertise.

The commercial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

The PlayShot solution is already live in four states as a B2B solution for partners, while William Hill operates sportsbooks or provides risk management services in each of the five states where betting has been regulated.

"We are delighted to be partnering with William Hill, whose proven leadership and capability in US sports betting operations will ensure that we are able to fully support our lottery customers as states start to regulate these products,” IGT chief executive for North America Renato Ascoli said. “Through this unique partnership, our customers will be able to enter this new activity with total confidence and trust in the service being offered.

“IGT is uniquely positioned as a leader in both lottery and sports betting technologies to deliver innovative solutions that will expand the possibilities for players and for lotteries themselves in this exciting new market,” Ascoli continued. “By forming this partnership with William Hill, we are able to bring to our lottery customers in every state a world-class combination of technology and operational expertise.”

William Hill US chief executive Joe Asher said he was delighted to expand his company’s relationship with IGT.

"William Hill's track record as an operator globally, and our clear leadership as a sports book operator in the US, in particular, mean that US lotteries can be confident that in choosing IGT and us together, they will be benefiting from a reliable, trustworthy, and responsibly-managed solution – maximizing revenues to each state with a quality product and service,” Asher added.
