Supported by Rambler&Co, Digital Betting will operate the service under its Russian gaming licence

A new bwin-branded sports betting product will soon be made available to customers in the Russian Federation, following the signing of a multi-year partnership between GVC Holdings and operator Digital Betting.

Under the terms of the partnership, GVC will supply its market-leading technology platform, support services and sports betting product, along with a licence to use the internationally recognised bwin brand mark.

Supported by Russian media group Rambler&Co, Digital Betting will operate the service under its Russian online gaming licence. The new bwin.ru site is expected to launch later this year and will be available via both desktop and mobile devices.

The partnership, which brings together one of Russia’s largest and most innovative online media companies with one of the world’s most popular gaming brands, will be amongst the first licensed online betting services offered in Russia and it is anticipated it will take a leading position in the market.

“Russia represents an exciting but complex new market for bwin, and having a partner of the calibre of Rambler&Co is hugely important to succeeding there,” Jay Dossetter, head of media relations for bwin, told TotallyGaming.com.

“We firmly believe the marriage of our brand and technology platform with their local knowledge and expertise is a winning combination.”

Dmitry Sergeev, CEO of Digital Betting, added: “For quite a long period of time, Russian sports bettors have been waiting for innovative solutions in [the] betting industry.

“We are extremely pleased to be offering the internationally admired bwin sports betting brand and product in Russia. We believe this partnership has great potential to capture significant market share in Russia when it launches later this year.”

Totally Gaming says: GVC’s clutch of globally-focused gaming brands continue to expand into new territories. With the backing of Rambler&Co’s marketing expertise, the group’s new Russian venture represents a win-win for both bwin and the country’s sports fans.
