First of many from the sportsbook supplier

Last Wednesday, leading sportsbook-supplier FSB held its inaugural industry day for Glorious Goodwood. The event was held at Nuala, the acclaimed bistro close to Old St Roundabout, to coincide with FSB’s own move to Shoreditch where they have taken over the reins at William Hill’s former offices along Scrutton Street’s tech alley.

A raft of operators, suppliers and veteran journalists were in attendance to navigate the choppy waters of a tricky Goodwood card, which was televised on the corner-site restaurant-bar’s cinematic widescreen, the largest showing such pictures in East London.

However, despite having some of the sharpest B2B minds in the business huddled around the FSB campfire, few illuminating bets followed on an afternoon long on Cornish cod, rosé requests and Sussex shockers. The nadir of which arrived in the fillies’ maiden, where George Baker’s unconsidered Feel Glorious held off the late thrust of the favourite to score at 125-1.

Far from disheartened by the collective abject failure, business development director Richard Thorp was quick to declare that this would be the first of many such networking days, with FSB set to open up Nuala’s Irish-themed bar to more industry functions in October and November.

“These days provide a great opportunity to catch up with old friends, existing partners, and network with other senior players in the business,” Thorp told TotallyGaming.com. “Shoreditch’s tech-hub status makes it a natural habitat for FSB. With digital innovation and differentiation across web, mobile and retail at our platform’s core, FSB is leading the charge for online sports betting.”

If only the same could be said of their Goodwood guests.

Totally Gaming says: The benefits of organising such events as this can have huge and long-standing benefits, and the more regularly they are held the greater their standing and reputation could well become. By planning more industry events on the back of this initial entry, FSB could well be cashing in big.
