Brian Mattingley, Andrew Burns and Mark Blandford to lend experience to "genuine industry disruptor"

Football Index names trio of industry veterans to board Football Index has strengthened its board of directors with a trio of high-profile gambling industry figures.

The operator, which allows users to ‘invest’ in footballers and earn dividends based on each players’ movements up and down a chart similar to a stock exchange, has named Brian Mattingley as its new non-executive chairman.

Former 888 vice chairman and chief executive Mattingley (pictured, centre) is joined on the board by Andrew Burns (pictured, left), who has been named Football Index’s new group chief financial officer, and Sportingbet founder Mark Blandford (pictured, right), who has been appointed an advisor to the operator’s board.

Burns joins from Consolidated Growth Limited, a natural resource exploration company focused on West Africa and ZImbabwe. Previously he worked as CFO for poker operator Empire Online, and has also held roles with the UK’s Rank Group.

Blandford, meanwhile, built Sportingbet into an iGaming giant with a market capitalisation of more than £2bn at its peak, and has since enjoyed success as a private equity investor through its Burlwyood Capital vehicle.

“These board appointments are a real statement of intent for Football Index,” Football Index founder and chief executive Adam Cole said. “We are adding a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience from the betting and gaming industry and beyond that will be invaluable in helping determine our future strategy and progress."

Mattingley described Football Index as “a genuine industry disruptor”.

“It is exciting to join the board of a company with such an innovative proposition that has a dedicated following and rapidly expanding user base,” he continued.

“I look forward, along with Andrew and Mark, to adding further expertise to the current board and management team and helping continue to grow the Football Index offering.”
