Gambling operator achieves accreditation after independent audit

The Kindred Group (formerly Unibet Group Plc) has become the first industry operator to gain full accreditation of the European Union consumer standards and policy mandate ‘The Recommendation on Consumer Protection’.

The operator informed stakeholders that it had passed all benchmarks set by the EU mandate which aims to implement best consumer-led practices for the growing ‘European Single Digital Market’.

A review of Kindred operations was carried out by industry consumer and fair practices agency eCOGRA auditing the following corporate criteria and transactional policy:

  • Transparent information and communications on the nature of gambling
  • Commercial communication (advertising and sponsorship) should be carried out in a responsible and transparent manner
  • Verification process for the age and identity of players
  • Measures to prevent minors from gambling, including strict minimum age requirements
  • Responsible gaming tools to keep gambling under control and prevent problems, such as deposit limits, information, customer support and self-exclusions
  • Provision of training to employees, notably on problem gambling issues

Issuing a market update, a pleased Henrik Tjärnström, CEO of Kindred Group, commented: “Kindred Group continues to raise the bar for responsible gambling and customer trust. The successful completion of this independent audit once again demonstrates that we have the right practices, technology and people in place to provide a safe and secure experience for our customers."

Speaking to, head of legal Ewout Keuleers reaffirmed the importance of the firm’s commitment to consumer protections in a changing market place: “We view consumer trust as a key component in securing a sustainable business over time. By building a customer centric business we are able to create an enjoyable and first class customer experience in a safe and secure environment. By taking care of our customers across their journey within any of our brands, and operating a secure and stable business, we build trust with all stakeholders.

"The audit against the EU Recommendation was a logical step in our strategic objectives and underlines Kindred’s strong track record on compliance and sustainable business.”

Totally Gaming Says: It is a progressive move by Kindred governance - being first to market on EU consumer protections accreditation. Kindred's multi-brand assets should gain benefits from this award as company seeks to exploit further international growth. It will also give the group more of a compelling argument when applying for new licences.
