Luckbox expects to launch offering for customers early in 2019

Esports betting operator Luckbox has hired former Playtech poker product manager Aleksandar Dimitrov as its new head of sportsbook product.

In his new role Dimitrov will work closely with Luckbox’s development team based in Plovdiv, Bulgaria and has been tasked with enhancing the esports-specific elements of its betting product.

“Luckbox is a company, which is involved in all the areas I am really passionate about — gambling, software, gaming and crypto,” Dimitrov said of his new employer.

“The team in terms of talent and experience is simply amazing,” he continued. “Throw in the ambition that we have and our vision for the product and the market, and you can’t be anything else than pumped with excitement and motivation.”

Luckbox’s Chief Product Officer Boris Mihov added: “We’re working hard to build the strongest possible team — not only in terms of talent and experience but also passion for and understanding of esports.

“Finding someone to manage our sportsbook is a big part of the puzzle for us and to get someone of Alex’s caliber is just fantastic for our company and the rest of the team.”

Dimitrov is an iGaming industry veteran, having also worked as head of product for Lottotech during ten years working in the sector.

He joins a company founded by former PokerStars operations manager Lars Lien, who serves as Luckbox chief executive, and Mike Stevens, who also worked for the poker giant as support and game integrity manager.

The company has already secured an Isle of Man gambling licence, and earlier this week joined the Esports Integrity Coalition. It aims to launch its offering for customers early in 2019.
