Metric Gaming has the technology and knowhow to make a big impact in the fantasy sports and social gaming sectors in the future, according to Louis Castle, who was appointed today (Wednesday) as the new chairman of the board of directors at the sports wagering software and services provider.

As reported by yesterday, Castle will fill the role vacated by Peter Bertilsson, who is taking over as the Las Vegas-based company’s president and chief executive.

“In the short term I look forward to the ongoing expansion of Metric Gaming’s SuperLive and Bettor Option products onto existing online and mobile sportsbooks worldwide, and longer term I believe Metric’s technology and competence have tremendous potential in the fantasy sports and social gaming markets,” Castle told

Bertilsson described Castle as “not only a friend but a highly experienced industry professional who will undoubtedly bring to our company extraordinary value and strategic vision”.

Castle has held senior executive positions at Shuffle Master, Zynga, InstantAction and Electronic Arts.

“The company’s core SuperLive and Bettor Option technology, as well as the operational excellence built by Metric Gaming, has obvious and long-reaching value outside of the real-money sports betting market,” Castle added.

“I look forward to sharing my skills and experience to help Metric Gaming expand both its product lines and business partners to engage new industries.

“The Metric Gaming executive team, board and advisory board is composed of some of the most accomplished professionals in the industry. I am very honoured to have been invited to join them.”

Castle also echoed the thoughts of Bertilsson, who told yesterday that the company sees “tremendous growth opportunities” in the in-play sports betting market.

“Metric's approach to in-play mobile betting is already ahead of its time, capturing the current live sports betting trend that I believe will continue for many years,” Castle added.

“The enhanced interactivity and excitement of play-by-play, shot-by-shot and second-by-second betting offers a more compelling and engaging experience for players of all skill and experience levels – not to mention improved turnover for operators – and Metric will no doubt continue to push the envelope in this regard.”
