Betway takes on the biggest names with Masters 2017 promotion

Augusta National will host the Masters 2017 from 6-9 April

Betway has taken on some of the biggest names in the golfing world with its headline promotion for the Masters 2017, ‘You Lead. You win’.

The first major of the season gets underway today at Augusta, with Betway promising to pay out on selections from the outright winner market if the player is leading at the end of any round.

As Martin de Knijff, CEO & Founder of Metric Gaming highlighted in the TG Blog this week, golf is a huge potential market for bookmakers. That is why Betway has developed this new promotion, available to both new and existing customers, to try and reach out to its golf fans.

Betway is targeting existing customer reactivation and new sign ups from an offer that could lead to big losses, given that they could end up paying out for up to four different winners.

When you consider the recent form of Dustin Johnson and Hideki Matsuyama, combined with unusually long odds for Jason Day and the Augusta consistency shown by the likes of Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy and Phil Mickelson over recent years, this offer represents a risky proposition for the operator.

Alan Alger, PR Manager at Betway, told “We are always looking to give our players the best offers and value on the market, while also hoping to bring new customers in.

“The US Masters has become one of sport's biggest betting events in recent years, with punters up and down the country hopeful of finding that gem in the rough.

“Those backing Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth at skinny prices may have more opportunities to land their cash, but it will also give value hunters a chance of winning a wedge.”

Totally Gaming says: Betway has been handed a slight reprieve after big favourite Dustin Johnson suffered a heavy fall at his rental home on the eve of the tournament. Nevertheless, there is still an increased opportunity for punters to win on short price favourites or from a string of value outsiders.
