ESL CEO Ralf Reichert wants e-sports competitions to remain "honest"

Sportradar has become the latest gaming sector-related company to move into the e-sports sector after announcing a new partnership with leading operator ESL.

Sportradar will develop a full range of products and services for ESL, including live scoring, pre-match odds suggestions and in-play markets, and has also secured exclusive streaming rights for ESL content across the betting industry.

ESL will have access to Sportradar’s Fraud Detection System that monitors operators around the world in order to provide an insight into suspicious betting patterns and behaviours.

“This partnership means that the industry-leading Fraud Detection System is going to be monitoring and analysing all the betting patterns on our events from across the world’s operators and markets,” said ESL chief executive Ralf Reichert.

“Working with the FDS and the publishers, we will identify any fixers, we will prosecute them and those they work with and we will keep our tournaments not only exhilarating, but honest.”

The deal comes in the same week that Betway and Dafabet signed sponsorship deals with ESL and rival e-sports organisation Fnatic respectively.  Betway has become the official sponsor of ESL’s UK Premiership tournament, and will offer a range of betting odds for this week’s play-offs and the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament, which begins on October 24.

Through its deal with Fnatic, Dafabet said it aims to raise awareness of regulated betting on e-sports activities to its customers around the world, while company branding will appear on players’ shirts during Fnatic events.

Jason Hutcheson, head of e-sports at Dafabet, added: “We aim to be the primary driver behind the growth of e-sports betting globally and believe that our strategic partnership with Fnatic will help us achieve this aim.

“Fnatic have an incredible following within the global e-sports community undoubtedly due to their passion for the growth and development of the competitive scene.”
