Quickspin’s Northern Sky takes Game to Watch prize

Thursday, February 8, 2018

The winner of this year’s Game to Watch competition at ICE was Quickspin’s Northern Sky.

Mattias Hallqvist, Producer, Quickspin, said: “We think [Northern Sky] as potential to become one of QuickSpin’s top performers.”

The Game to Watch competition is in its fifth year and focuses on concepts and game designs which are yet to reach the mainstream.

Hallqvist said that Quickspin had taken one of its older games, Wild Chase, and revamped it. In Wild Chase, players get a re-spin on every win. With Northern Sky, they get a payout for every re-spin, “which makes every game exciting”.

Hallqvist said: “Whenever something happens it starts to get exciting. Even if you win on low-paying symbols, these re-spins accumulate the wins so at the end you get pretty chunky wins, even starting small.”

Hallqvist said one of the biggest trends he’s seeing this year at the show is achievement engines and innovative ways to include additional gamification features.
