Playtech agrees further SSBT rollout with Betfred

Builds on similar deal agreed earlier this year

Self Service Betting Terminals (SSBTs) are proving particularly popular with one bookmaker, as Betfred announce that they are set to receive a further deployment from Playtech BGT Sports (PBS).

The state of the art terminals are going to be supplied to a number of Betfred’s best performing shops, amongst its 1,700 strong retail estate.

This follows news of a similar deal earlier in the year regarding the independent UK bookmaker and PBS, in a move designed to strengthen its entire retail estate.

Under the terms of that deal, agreed in June, a further 570 terminals were rolled out, taking Betfred’s inventory of SSBTs to 2,800.

John Pettit, managing director of Playtech BGT Sports in the UK, Ireland, Asia and Australia, told TotallyGaming.com: “This is our second contract extension with Betfred in the past year, proving that our SSBTs are appealing to more and more customers and becoming an increasingly important part of the retail betting proposition.

“These terminals offer a complementary service to high street shops, with bettors now able to access a breadth of sports and competitions, both pre-match and in-play, from across the world that previously would only have been available online.

“We’ll continue to bring the best of online to the retail space, and BetTracker is another innovative tool that aligns shop and online betting, ensuring customers can have the best and most flexible user experience possible.”

It was agreed that PBS’s mobile BetTracker app would also be released across Betfred’s retail network earlier this year, in addition to strengthening its SSBT presence.

The mobile app allows customers to transfer their sports bets to their mobile devices after placing them in-shop, track their bets and cash out back to the terminal.

Totally Gaming says: PBS SSBTs are undoubtedly very popular across the United Kingdom, and this latest deal with Betfred builds on the similar announcement earlier this year that included the BetTracker roll out, with the firm continuing to monetise the retail space.
