William Hill strengthens stance over new UK regulations with NMi deal

William Hill has moved to demonstrate its commitment to new regulations introduced by the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) by entering into a partnership with compliance specialist NMi.

Under the agreement, NMi will complete a test of the bookmaker’s full suite of online casino games to meet the requirements set by the UKGC.

Introduced last month, the new Gambling (Licensing and Advertising) Act requires all operators present in the UK market to carry out testing and auditing actions in regards to their various services.

Operators that have migrated from other regulated jurisdictions have been given 12 months to test content to UKGC standards. However, the UK regulatory body has vowed that it will not tolerate delaying testing until the last minute.

William Hill opted to appoint NMi to the testing role as the two parties share an existing relationship. NMi has tested the majority of the bookmaker’s Category B fixed-odds betting terminals and games in recent years.

“We appointed NMi based on the high level of professionalism and the in depth compliance knowledge that they were able to demonstrate,” William Hill’s head of QA and Test, Shane Kelly, said.

“As a high-profile organisation, we value partnerships with innovative organisations that can both complement and facilitate our business goals. This is a significant development and we look forward to a long-standing relationship.”
