Premier Punt on its Seedrs success

The DFS company met and surpassed its £200,000 target

DFS operator, Premier Punt, announced recently that it has concluded its crowdfunding campaign with Seedrs.

At a company valuation of £2.8m the Edinburgh based firm had set an initial investment target of £200k to give away 6.67% equity, but ended up surpassing its target by £20k.

John Gordon, Premier Punt CEO, said: “Premier Punt was made for the fans, by the fans which is why we felt crowdfunding fit in with our ethos. It meant friends, family and our customers could join us in, what promises to be, an exciting and successful journey.

“The funds will be used to venture into overseas markets and further develop Premier Punt’s award winning app / website.

With such a plethora of crowdfunding campaigns on Seedrs and other sites like it these days it can be tricky to get noticed. We asked Premier Punt General Manager Chris Rae to comment on how they promoted and ran the campaign. He noted: “We did just about anything we could think of to get the word out but it was mostly through social media both via our own channels and Seedrs’. We also did a few presentations in Aberdeen, Edinburgh and London so potential investors could experience our good looks up close and personal.”

Of course many businesses fail to hit their target in campaigns such as these and so to surpass it is commendable. On this point Rae stated: “We were too concentrated on hitting our £200k target to think about surpassing it because, with Seedrs, if you don’t reach your investment then you don’t receive any money at all. So it was a relief more than anything once we hit it, then we saw that money was still coming in which was flattering. We’re grateful to everyone who invested.”

Premier Punt also revealed that it has some exciting developments planned for the coming months, and that one major announcement would be made within the next fortnight.

Late last year Premier Punt took home the Highly Commended award in the daily fantasy sports category at the SBC Awards show, and this year it’s working hard on getting the brand better known. Partnerships such as its one that is in place with Southampton FC help to this end, but there also needs to be a wider and united push from the DFS industry as a whole to educate UK players.
