7,400,000 - A NetEnt player took home  €7.4m on its Mega Fortunes Dream slot from a bet of £1.25. The player, who’s from Cheshire, said of his win: “When I saw the amount that I had won, I was in complete shock and disbelief, so wasn’t sure how to react. 2017 - The construction of a Hilton at the Doncaster racecourse will commence in the new year to give racegoers a new place to stay. Courtesy of the approval of the ARC (Arena Racing Company) consturction is expected to be completed by 2018. Over 280,000 attended the racecourse in 2015, and Tim Banfield, Executive Director of Doncaster Racecourse, commented: We are delighted to be working with Doncaster Council and Hilton on this exciting project which marks a new era for the racecourse.

50 - Over in Ireland TV viewers will, from January 1st 2017, be treated to 50 days of racing a year after TV3 Group announced a new four-year partnership with Racecourse Media Group (RMG). This will include action from Cheltenham on new year’s day, whilst throughout the year both TV3 and 3e will show action live from Cheltenham Festival, Royal Ascot, Qatar Goodwood Festival and more.

70 - A notable 70% of adults surveyed recalled Gamble Aware campaign and its message ‘ When the fun stops, stop’. The Senet Group, which is an independent body set up by four of Britain’s largest bookmakers, and with this latest survey chair Wanda Goldwag believes that its message is getting through to the public. In addition, out of 1,000 adults surveyed 20% said the campaign had “prompted them to warn other people about gambling, if only jokingly”.

58,900,000 - Superdata’s end of year report estimated that esports betting was worth $58.9m in 2016. It also indicated that it is set to grow throughout 2017 and beyond with Las Vegas a keen suitor.
