Mr Green set for ‘new phase’ as Pawlo stands down as CEO

Friday, December 19, 2014

Mr Green is set to enter a “new phase” of business after it was confirmed that Mikael Pawlo is to stand down from his role as chief executive of the online casino operator in June of next year.

Pawlo is one part of a trio that first founded the company in 2007 and has held the role of Mr Green & Co chief executive since April last year.

However, after reaching an agreement with the company’s board, Pawlo has agreed to step down from the role next year. Despite his departure from this role, Pawlo could still retain an affiliation with the operator, with the Mr Green nomination committee having proposed that he become a new member of the firm’s board.

Speaking to TotallyGaming.com about the decision, Pawlo said the move represents a “new phase” for the company and he is confident about how Mr Green will perform under the guidance of someone else.

“You could say that the pure entrepreneurial phase in the group's history is now in the passing - we are an established player in Europe and even though we have a vast number of possibilities still, we are now entering a new phase,” Pawlo told TotallyGaming.com.

“We have a great operations team on board in Malta with Bo Wanghammar heading up the team. I have known him since around 1996 when we both entered the internet industry, so I feel pretty confident he will deliver at his best.

“When I leave the green hat to the next player, I have worn it for almost eight years. Being able to hand over in a controlled manner is crucial and this is a good time to do it.”

Despite having confirmed that he will step down as chief executive, Pawlo reiterated his commitment to the company and said he will continue to work towards further growth before his departure at the end of June.

“Regarding next steps, my first and foremost focus the coming six months is to secure a continuous growth and innovation in the Mr Green & Co group,” Pawlo said.

“You should always judge a leader by his successor. But so far, so good. And we have had a lot of fun.

“The recruitment process is starting now. Other than that, we still have a strong mobile focus for the online casino MrGreen.com, we continue to work on our second brand Garbo.com, our social strategies and developing our concept around Green Gaming - aiming to protect players and offer a safe and sound casino experience.”
