Mr Green CEO identifies opportunities in ‘huge’ Italian market

Mikael Pawlo, chief executive officer of Mr Green, has told TotallyGaming.com of the opportunities that await the online gaming operator in the Italian gambling market after the company was given approval to become the new licensee of MyBet Italia’s operation.

Mr Green struck a deal in January to acquire MyBet Italia in a move to enter the regulated Italian market, which has experienced significant growth in recent times due to the influx of new operators.

Having received approval from Italian gaming regulator AAMS, Mr Green will now launch its services and brand in the country some time during the second quarter of this year.

Speaking to TotallyGaming.com about the expansion, Pawlo said that although Mr Green does not yet have specific targets for the Italian market, it is not launching in the country to be “insignificant”.

He added: “The Italian market is the second largest market for online casino in Europe. It is a huge market and still few have so far served it with a proper product and brand.

“We hope that the Italians will come to love Mr Green himself and our ambitions are to build a safe and very entertaining product that gives instant thrills in a secure environment.

“We haven't disclosed any targets and since we are a listed company we have to stay clear of such predictions. But we are not launching to be insignificant.”

Although only initially planning to launch an online casino, the licence awarded by the AAMS will also enable Mr Green to offer sports betting, poker and bingo services if it opts to do so in the future.

In term of Mr Green’s additional expansion plans, Pawlo did not rule out launching in other new markets and territories if these were to fit in with the operator’s wider strategy.

“We always evaluate new opportunities,” Pawlo said. “Sometimes, our best decisions are when we just do nothing, sometimes we find opportunities like when MyBet Italia was for sale and then we strive to move rapidly to seize the opportunity. So we will see what happens.

“Our core strategy is to continue to roll-out through Europe, with the addition that we want to do it a controlled manner with profitability and where we can continue to offer a safe and entertaining iGaming experience to the clients.”
