GVC hails B2B potential after Betfred deal

GVC said it is an ideal position to become a major B2B supplier as it announced a “significant” deal to provide Betfred’s sportsbook and online gaming platform for the next decade.

Speaking to TotallyGaming.com, Shay Segev, GVC’s chief operating officer, said the company can offer partners both proven technology and its own experience as an operator, through its subsidiaries such as Sportingbet. He added that the deal with Betfred is of particular note as it is the first time GVC has allowed its sports betting platform to be used by a company that it does not own. 

The 10-year B2B agreement involves the full migration of one of the UK’s biggest online operators, including its entire sportsbook and gaming offering, to the GVC platform. 

GVC already has B2B partnerships with Boyd Gaming, Danske Spil, Pari Mutuel Urbain (PMU) and Superbahis’ owner East Pioneer, and said in its 2015 annual report that it wished to expand in both B2C and B2B over the course of this year.

After securing the high-profile acquisition of bwin.party earlier this year, Segev said GVC is now in a position to focus on developing its B2B segment. 

“The B2B offering is one of the growing engines for the GVC group,” Segev told TotallyGaming.com. “GVC will continue to explore significant B2B strategic partnership in the future and believe there is big void in the industry for a proven tier one sport betting B2B platform provided by a well-established group who understands operations.

“The fact the GVC is international player makes the technology even more appealing as it can accommodate different markets and build to serve and localised accordingly.”

GVC said its B2B platform offers a single account, allowing players to access a variety of content choices around sports and gaming, across multiple channels. It added that backend data driven tools will allow Betfred to segment its players and personalise its offering accordingly.

Segev added: “Betfred recognised the new enlarged GVC group has a world leading online sports betting offering. The GVC Group has developed its own proprietary technology over the last 10 years. This is the first time GVC has given access to its sport betting technology outside of the group and is an example of the new enlarged group creating new revenue streams and developing existing strengths.”

TotallyGaming.com says: “This seems to be a major step for GVC, proving the company’s reach into both online sportsbook and gaming. Coming just months after its purchase of bwin.party, this very different deal proves GVC will not rest on its laurels.”
