Greentube underlines commitment to UK market with Mazooma purchase

Thursday, April 13, 2017

Greentube, the global interactive business unit of Novomatic, has struck a deal to acquire UK-based Mazooma Interactive Games for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition has led to the creation of Greentube UK Ltd, which will provide Mazooma’s former customer base local access to the entire Novomatic Group portfolio, as well as Greentube’s state-of-the-art products and services.

Established in 1997, Mazooma plays a key role in the UK market, providing a game integration capability to enable land-based games to enter the high-growth online market.

Originally from a land-based background, the company has focused its attention on developing digital content for internet and mobile markets both in the UK and internationally.

Commenting on the deal, Greentube chief operating officer Georg Gubo said: “This is a significant business reorganisation to support our growth plans in the UK both from a B2B and B2C perspective.”

Tony Oliver, managing director of Greentube UK, added: “It is an exciting time for us. This investment from Greentube will provide clarity to our customers as well as support our expansion plans in the UK market.”

Greentube’s purchase of Mazooma comes amid a period of strong growth for the Austrian company. This year alone has seen the group sign content partnership deals with EveryMatrix, GVC Holdings and bet365.

Totally Gaming says: Despite the current economic uncertainty in the UK, Greentube has underlined its commitment to the market through its purchase of Mazooma. The deal follows Novomatic’s acquisition of Talarius – a UK-based operator of adult gaming centres – in June last year, and so it’s clear that the Austrian gaming giant is holding steady on its plans to increase its footprint in what remains one of Europe’s biggest gaming markets.
