Hoping to grow Welsh football on a global scale

The Football Association of Wales (FAW) has reached an agreement with Genius Sports in a bid to maximise the commercial value of its official data.

Steven Burton, managing director of Genius Sports, told TotallyGaming.com: “Leagues and federations across all levels of sport have recognised the clear benefits that official data can provide in driving fan engagement, enhancing operational efficiency, increasing commercial returns and safeguarding integrity.

“However, this data is only made an asset when combined with the right technology infrastructure. We are delighted to be working in partnership with The Football Association of Wales, providing proven technology to help unlock the true value of its data.”

The sports data technology, commercialisation and distribution specialists’ statisticians are to gather real-time data from pitchside at a wide range of competitions, including the JD Welsh Premier League, Orchard Welsh Premier Women’s League and the JD Welsh Cup.

Jonathan Ford, Chief Executive of the FAW, said: “It is important that we as an association maximise the full value of the data from our major domestic competitions. To that end we are pleased to have formed this partnership with Genius Sports, which we believe will enable us to achieve this, as well as expand our audience.”

Through the harnessing of Genius Sports technologies, the FAW can guarantee the accuracy and reliability of its data which in turn can maximise commercial returns and ultimately grow Welsh football on a global scale.

Genius Sports have also been granted non-exclusive, worldwide commercialisation rights for this data within the media and regulated betting sectors.

Totally Gaming says:  This is a relationship which has the potential to pay huge dividends.  Sport, and football in particular is huge business worldwide, and Genius Sports can undoubtedly aid the Football Association of Wales in growing their offerings to a range of new markets.
