Draft Fantasy will begin its DFS journey in the UK

Tuesday, January 24, 2017

Following a round of capital funding, Draft Fantasy is coming to the UK shores with further European expansion on the horizon.

Draft Fantasy COO Sam Guigui told Totally Gaming: "Our decision to start in the UK was simple. Our current season long draft user base is predominantly from the UK which gives us a leg up in regards to gaining significant traction there for our upcoming weekly offering. By leveraging partnerships, we plan on expanding to the rest of Europe and Australia, but we believe our product can be localized to attract the massive markets across the globe."

The operator currently has ‘the largest draft style user base in the industry’ and plans to continue its growth by allowing users to participate in weekly and daily drafts for the Premier League. It aims to disrupt the market in the UK and Europe, and will come up against the likes of DraftKings and FanDuel who entered the space last year.

There’s also the newcomers to consider in the form of Premier Punt and Sportito though two major second tier B2C operators (Mondogoal and Oulala) dropped out of the market, switching to a strictly B2B focus in late 2016.

Tyler Swartz is the VP of Marketing at Draft Fantasy and following the company’s recent funding, he stated: “Our game has experienced tremendous traction to date, and Draft Fantasy plans to implement daily and weekly games in hopes of continuing our current growth trajectory.

“Daily and weekly games should increase sign ups and traction, as well as complement our season long offering. Draft Fantasy has been in touch with numerous niche influencers and aims to work closely with them once the weekly offering is launched.”

He continued: “Right now we have users from over 130 different countries and plan on bringing them a DFS style of game in the future. The plan is to focus on perfecting the product for our U.K. users before we expand to other markets.”

The Draft Fantasy team will be present at ICE Totally Gaming in February.

Totally Gaming says: Draft Fantasy is a big believer in the potential draw of DFS and clearly views the UK as the most solid base from which to grow a B2C offering for Europe and other regions.
