Matthew Katz is pleased with the licence award

Online payment services provider CAMS has been awarded a full Casino Service Industry Enterprise Licence in the growing New Jersey market.

The licence, awarded by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE), means the company will be able to advise on future potential expansion of the US state’s online gaming market, with figures this week showing that the region’s revenue amounted to $12.6m (€11m), up 11 per cent on the same month last year.

CAMS has been active in the New Jersey online gaming sector since the market first launched in late 2013, offering its services to operators under a provisional waiver.

The new licence will now not only confirm full approval for CAMS in New Jersey, but also ensure its services exceed the requirements of the state’s regulatory body.

Matthew Katz, chief executive officer of CAMS told TotallyGaming.com that the new licence will also enable the company to advise New Jersey on other sectors of online gaming if the state opts to expand its own market.

“The approval process is long and can be arduous at times, but it succeeds in identifying those companies that are committed to the long-term success of New Jersey’s internet gaming industry,” Katz said.

“Should New Jersey decide to alter or expand their online gaming industry in any way, we stand at the ready to advise and provide our services where necessary.”

Aside from its ongoing activity in New Jersey, Katz also revealed that CAMS is monitoring the potential regulation of online gaming in other states across the US.

“We’re keeping a sharp eye on a number of states that are considering some form of licensed and regulated internet gaming,” Katz said.

“The next two years will be a key period in the development of the industry as several states should make considerable progress in offering their citizens safe and legal online play.”
