Carl Klingberg and Fredrik Burvall appointed to the Board of Directors

Aspire Global has targeted the “cluster of gaming skills in Stockholm” after appointing former Cherry AB CEO Fredrik Burvall to its board of directors.

The Malta-based platform provider has also selected fellow Swede Carl Klingberg, former CEO of Ongame / bwin Games AB, as a new board member and chairman.

Burvall, who stepped down from his position at Cherry in January 2017, holds an MBA in Economics from Stockholm University, while Klingberg, also the chairman of Mackmyra Whiskey, graduated from Stockholm School of Economics in 1984 after specialising in marketing and computing.

Tsachi Maimon, CEO of Aspire Global, said: “These appointments provide additional experience and expertise to the organisation, complementing a strong group of existing directors and the management team. The knowledge and networks our new directors provide will support new strategic initiatives and strengthen the organisation’s connections within the online gaming sector.

“The fact that both new directors are Swedes is no coincidence, there is a cluster of gaming skills in Stockholm, and a number of partners and subcontractors to the gaming industry. Both Carl and Fredrik held senior positions in the industry’s leading companies, their addition will contribute greatly in achieving Aspire Global’s growth targets.”

Klingberg added: "Aspire is an exciting company facing accelerated development in a rapidly growing market. I feel honoured to take on this assignment. I have great respect for Aspire's management and what it has accomplished. I will try to contribute with my knowledge in the field, my experiences and my network so that the company can continue to develop in the same positive way."

Totally Gaming says: It is well documented that Scandinavia, and particularly Sweden, provides the right environment for successful innovation-focused technology driven companies. Aspire has taken advantage of this by appointing a pair of Swedes, both well respected within the industry, to bolster its board of directors.
