International supplier has new contracts in Switzerland, Colombia & Canada

New York-listed gambling and lottery systems provider, International Game Technology Plc (IGT) has started 2017 strongly by securing three new lottery provision agreements.

Entering 2017, IGT governance has informed investors that it has won supplier agreement with Société De La Loterie Suisse Romande (Switzerland) and a five-year private supplier contract with Coljuegos (Colombia) extended the firms international footprint.

Provisions for Loterie Suisse Romande will see IGT provide its full service ‘Aurora’ lottery market solutions for an agreed period of 10-years.

Declan Harkin, IGT senior vice president and chief operating officer, international, said that the deal represents the next evolution in the long-term partnership between the two: "By providing IGT’s new high-performance, high-reliability lottery platform, Loterie Romande will have the flexibility and dynamic, player-focused system that it needs to increase its customer base and revenues to good causes.”

Following its win of a public tender for services, the Coljuegos (Colombia) contract will see IGT become the private operator of draw-based lottery game ‘Baloto’.

Harkin added: “This new contract, and IGT's proven record of successfully operating Baloto in Colombia during the past 16 years, demonstrates the company’s expertise in privately managing all aspects of lottery operations for governments. With this contract, IGT reaffirms its commitment to ensuring Coljuegos generates funds for good causes, and maintaining a strong presence in the Latin America market.”

Further good news for IGT, has seen major client Loto-Quebec (Canada) confirm that it will upgrade it lottery system to IGT ‘Gemini Touch’ provisions replacing its current instant ticket vending machines process.

Loto-Quebec has been a customer of IGT systems since 1999, which further provides the Canadian gambling operator with an inventory of 12,000 video lottery terminals.

IGT’s strong opening to 2017, will please investors as the company fulfils its ambitions of expanding its services within international markets, subsiding its dependence on core markets of Italy and the USA.

Totally Gaming says: An enlarged IGT group continues to win new clients and renew its lottery systems contracts, which is unsurprising given the firms leading position within the lottery sector. However, more intriguing to IGT stakeholders will be whether the firm can deliver new innovations for lottery purchasing and ticketing…put simply can IGT refresh an old game?
