European Lotteries confirms changes to senior management team

Hansjörg Höltkemeier installed as new president

European Lotteries, the umbrella body for national lotteries in Europe, has made a number of changes to its senior management team, including the appointment of Hansjörg Höltkemeier as its new president.

Höltkemeier, a member of the European Lotteries executive committee since 2009, currently serves on the management board of the Deutsche Klassenlotterie Berlin in Germany. Following his election to the role of president, he will retain his roles both on the continental body’s executive committee and with Deutsche Klassenlotterie Berlin.

In further changes to its senior management team, European Lotteries has named Fernando Paes Afonso from Portugal’s Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa as first vice-president. Afonso will also take a seat on the organisation’s executive committee.

In addition, Robert Chvátal, who currently holds a senior role with Sazka in the Czech Republic, will take on the position of second vice-president and also become a member of the executive committee.

In addition to the appointment of Afonso and Chvátal, European Lotteries has added a number of other new members to its executive committee.

Torbjørn Almlid, president and chief executive of Norsk Tipping in Norway, and Fabio Attilio Cairoli, managing director of Italy’s Lottomatica, will both become members of the executive committee, as will Andy Duncan, chief executive of UK company Camelot.

Arjan Van’T Veer, lead management at Staatsloterij in the Nertherlands, and Stéphane Pallex, president and chief executive of La Française Des Jeux in France, will also assume positions on the executive committee.

In addition, Inmaculada García of Spain’s Sociedad Estatal Loterías Y Apuestas Del Estado, and Jannie Haek, chief executive of Nationale Loterij in Belgium, will also become members, as will Franci Krizan from Slovenia’s Loterija Slovenije.
