An interesting week for David Baazov's attempts at buying back his old company after it emerged that one of the backers, KBC Aldini Capital, weren't actually involved in the bid. However come the end of the week, Baazov still appears to be on track.

Alun Bowden, Senior Consultant at Eilers & Krejcik Gaming, reacted to the news that another investor for Baazov's Amaya takeover is willing to make up the shortfall from another one ‘dropping out’, with a touch of incredulity and a touch of sarcasm:

He tweeted: “This is how all multi-billion deals happen right?”

Speaking of major deals, the industry is still shifting to process the final completion of the DraftKings/FanDuel merger (DuelKings?/ FanDraft?) as the two leaders of the DFS market look to dominate the sector for years to come. One of those planning to stop them is Mondogoal, whose CEO Sergul Arshad is a little confused over the deal.

He tweeted: "Doesn't seem like a merger of equals. @DraftKings hiring, growing, Jason gets to be CEO. @FanDuel folks fleeing scene. All visible. Very."

Our very own Ewa Bakun had some news for all those who have been caught up in the DFS rush as the latest new thing! it's not that new - Brazil has been doing it for an age.

She tweeted: "Cartola is one of the oldest fantasy games, from Brazil. A legal market already exists, says @IgorFederalReal at #bgcongress @bgcongress"

One merger that appears to be very happy, thank you, is Paddy Power Betfair, which has just been cited for its gender diversity among FTSE companies. It's made Dr Sally Gainsbury, Psychology gambling researcher at USyd have a think about other companies in the sector.

She tweeted: "It would be interesting to look at gender equity in leadership of Australian gambling companies."

Meanwhile Coral's Nick Goff has not been too impressed at the performace of one of the Premier League's smaller clubs.

He tweeted: "The phrase Premier League Experience makes me want to bang my head. It's not PL experience some of these Burnley players need. It's ability."
